Flurry: light, brief shower of snow. sudden commotion, excitement, or confusion; nervous hurry. Yep. That’s my life right now, minus the snow part: sudden commotion, excitement or confusion; nervous hurry. Being a wife, homeschooling mom of three kids (one entering teenagerdom, yikes), supporting and directing co-ops, volunteering and participating in three different kid’s activities, church, jobs (yes, plural), businesses, not to mention, feeding my family three meals a day, laundry, dishes, house chores, yard work, building a home, working with contractors and the city for permits, taking care of myself with exercise and vitamins… has made my life feel like a flurry. So much sudden commotion, excitement, confusion, and nervous hurry has been trying to knock me down mentally and physically.
Yet Jesus has told us to not be burdened by this world. Jesus shared in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Praise the Lord that He doesn’t intend for us to live flurried lives. He intends for us to walk in his fruit of peace, with light burdens and adequate rest for our souls. Inhale…. exhale… That relationship is the only thing that calms the storm and brings peace to the chaos. What a wonder to have a solution to flurry. Abiding in Him makes it well with my soul.
