Oh glorious sunshine. Have you ever noticed there are a lot of songs about sunshine… I’ve got sunshine in my pocket… You are my sunshine, my only sunshine… I’m walking on sunshine, oooohh…. etc. It’s pretty miraculous, that great big ball of flaming gas up there in the sky. Without it, life cannot happen. Too much of it, life burns up. Too little, it freezes. How humbling it is to know that we are just the right distance from that amazing light to be able to exist. How dependent we are on its rays. There’s also something about that moment when you haven’t seen the sweet sun in awhile and you step into it. The warmth from its energy often causes me to close my eyes and breath deep the glory of the Lord.
Today we enjoyed unexpected sunshine. When you live in the state we do, having sunshine anytime in the winter is a glorious day. Many complain about the lack of it. Since there’s nothing I can do about that(besides move), I have made the conscious effort to look at any day with sun as miraculous, and to make sure to up my vitamin d intake all winter. I was doubly blessed today to not only get to experience sunshine, but to also get to spend most of the day with a sweet friend. How refreshing to the soul both are.
It’s amazing to me how the Lord made us to need the sun and each other. Thank you Lord for your glory that shines through your creation of the sun, and your children.
