Today was filled with little moments of breathing in deep and enjoying the space we share as a family. Yesterday we had some dear friends over spontaneously. This is a rare occasion in our home as I am typically a planner and have to prepare for guests. Over the years I have become less neurotic about needing the house to be spotless, although I still believe it’s respectful to others to not share our dirt and laundry mess with others, I am a lot more flexible than I used to be. (Praise the Lord.) Anyway, we did end up cleaning the house in the short amount of time we had and today we reaped the rewards of that. Deep breaths in clean spaces is a favorite of mine.
Clean, deep breaths remind me of one of my favorite things in nature – moss. Not only is it beautiful and breathtaking, but moss is one of the best air purifiers. It inhales air, chemicals and pollutants, and stores the toxins for years. This incredible service is what gave mosses the nickname the green lungs of the earth. They breathe deeply for us to have clean air, a resource that we depend on to survive. The beauty of these tiny plants are a wonder to behold.
